The Xiomeran government announced today that it has launched a “humanitarian intervention” in Roucourt to stabilize the country and restore the authority of the existing government.
“We are spurred to action by the indiscriminate bombing in the city of Shchyotamak, the rounding up of citizens by the so-called People’s and Nations Defense Squadron, and other acts by separatists and criminals in Roucourt seeking to take advantage of a moment of crisis,” Prime Minister Toquihu told the media. “Roucourt is a friend and major trading partner of Xiomera. We will not stand idly by while it is plunged into chaos. We will act decisively to restore the government of General Secretary Leclerc to full authority over all of the country.”
The Prime Minister went on to warn the PNDS and other rebellious elements not to oppose the Xiomeran operation. “We seek peaceful and mutual cooperation. Our only goal is to stabilize Roucourt and end the unrest there. But if our stabilization and peacekeeping force is attacked, we will respond accordingly. Instead of engaging in futile violence against us, we urge General Yelisey and the PNDS to stand down and work with us and the government of Roucourt in the interest of everyone.”
5000 Xiomeran soldiers have reportedly been airlifted into the capital, Kalinyev, and secured control of the main airport there. More airlifts of Xiomeran soldiers and equipment are expected by the hour, as the Xiomeran force seeks to support the beleagured government and its current acting leader, Commander Volodin Maximovich of the GSSG.
