Massive Increase in Eikan Air Force Activity Says Military

Inwaukosuwuk, Whetosonghnee – A recent uptick in activity by the Eikan Airforce has been reported by the Armed Forces, with the Eikans performing mass air patrols over their airspace. While no aircraft have yet violated Whetosonghnean airspace, much of the air traffic was concentrated along the border. Air defences near the border were activated on standby mode and much of the Whetosonghnean airforce was scrambled to defend.

“We cannot be certain, but we believe that the Eikans were preparing for a possible general assault against our forces.” Said Maj. Gen. John Blackfoot during a press conference at the Great Council House in Inwaukosuwuk. “We are monitoring the situation and preparing contingencies in case such an attack come to pass. I urge the public not to panic, and to heed the advice of public officials in case of an emergency situation. It is important to maintain calm in this case.”

Much of Whetosonghnean public, while voicing their concerns over a possible Eikan invasion, appear to not consider an invasion imminent or even likely. Polling data shows only 22% of individuals are concerned about a possible attack, with only 4% believing it to be likely within the next month. The Vast majority are either uncertain (36%), or unconcerned (48%). Nonetheless, the armed forces have been tracking additional activity along the border.

The Councils have remained rather tight-lipped in regards to a possible declaration of war by the Eikan state. High Speaker Jimmy Seven-Feather has thus far declined to comment on the current situation. While tensions are high, there are reportedly some within the Council apparatus who believe a diplomatic solution to this mess is still on the table.
