The Dappies!

(Meant to be posted 9/21. Above: Fusheer Bayana, famed Doatian Actor and personal friend of Prince Alsheer)

Saturday saw Doatia’s long-awaited Dappy Awards 2024, hosted by Fusheer Bayana. As the show began, Fusheer Bayana delivered the opening monologue. Excerpt below:

“…and see, here we all are. There’s Kristin Davis, ladies and gentlemen, delivering looks as usual. Who else is here? Jackson Comet, you did Dauntless justice my man. Claudette Qualson is in the building! Lets give her a round of applause please, for being an absolute trailblazer. I see my good friend Prince Alsheer, what’s up brother? I see Jax Bertoni in the building, when we gon’ have this election bruh? I’m just clowning. Kinda. Everybody who is anybody is in this room, and I feel inclined to say something. Our government is a hot ass mess. We have Recardo, trying to disrupt the democrat process, which is why I must thank Jax, because man, one of the only powerbrokers in Doa City with balls and the audacity to say ‘this is some bull’ and do something about it. He’s inspired a movement, not just on social media, but in the streets. The people of Doatia are demanding change, and Doa City needs to listen. I mean, we need an election. The Chamber, the Chancellor, so out of touch. We demand an election, and at that, we need a ban on gerrymandering. Come on now! Fair districts y’all”

The audience erupted into applause. Towards the end of the night Fusheer then introduced the keynote speakers of this year, Queen Aiyisha Bokum and Prince Alsheer.

Prince Alsheer began “Thank you brother for the introduction. It’s an honor to be here. Me and ma felt compelled to come and speak, and we’re honored when our request was accepted. As yall know, my sister not only shamed my family and the nation with her treason, she endangered Doatia.”

Queen Aiyisha continued “Yes, that she did. And she did so brazenly, as if she were entitled to be so reckless. That is why, in front of all of you, my son and I, are calling on the Chancellor and People’s Chamber respect the Supreme Court decision earlier this year, and allow an independent commission to redraw Doatia’s electoral districts and then hold a free and fair election. And upon the people expressing their will, we call on the newly-elected Chamber and Chancellor to pursue the complete abolition of the Monarchy. The time is now!”

The audience erupted into applause, Jax Bertoni was seen speaking to Prince Alsheer and Queen Aiyisha later in the evening. The rest of the event was pretty straight forward. Several shows won their Dappies, some of course lost. The star of the night, however, was the massive protest outside the theater where the Dappies were held.

Protesting the implementation of “Androids” in public and private sector industries and the corresponding unemployment, thousands gathered outside the Dappies to demonstrate. Jax Bertoni even spoke: “….if given a majority, we will freeze any additional roll-out of Androids that could take additional jobs, we will increase unemployment eligibility and income, we will demand reparations from Ezpera Industries aimed at increasing the available jobs throughout Doatia, and we will privative industries that would do better apart from the government and will increase investment to create more Human jobs.”

In the days since, the Progressive Socialists have risen in the polls to a current 56%, the highest of any single party in 7 decades.
