Federation City, Greater Acadia – The Acadian Government has been thrown into a panic this morning over the bombshell news which dropped early this morning. Current Acadian Prime Minister Christine Belle’s official history has been called into question, as a number of inconsistencies regarding her stated upbringing have come to light. Rhana Del Mer, a biographer working on her book about the Prime Minister’s early life recently announced a number of inconsistencies regarding miss Belle’s educational history, particularly in regards to her early years.
“It was kind of shocking.” Said miss Del Mer. “I wanted to interview her elementary and pre-K teachers. To get a feel for what kind of student she was early on in life. I expected that maybe some of them had passed away. That’s normal. What isn’t normal is for pretty much all of their stated teachers and educational facilities from that time to have no record or memory of a student. It’s like she never existed until she got to college.” Further, miss Del Mer stated, one of the teachers miss Belle was reported to have studied under never actually existed.
Bringing her findings to Federal Police, an investigation was launched to ascertain the true origins of the current Prime Minister. This eventually resulted in the involvement of the Acadian intelligence community, who recently published their report concluding that the Prime Minister was, in fact, an Auroran agent of the Matriarchy of Kerlile, sent to spy and potentially destabilize Acadia to further their geopolitical objectives. Due to the threat of an Aurora having penetrated the highest level of office, the Prime Minister was arrested at the same time that the report was published, and has been taken into custody awaiting trial. The exact list of potential crimes has yet to be announced.
This has led to a political firestorm in the Acadian Parliament, with opposition parties calling for a vote of no-confidence against both the Social Democrats and the ruling Forward Acadia coalition. “It’s frankly appalling that the Social Democrats would allow someone with such a past to not only enter their party but lead the nation without even questioning their background.” Said United Technocrats party leader Elizabeth Johnston. “This is the security of our nation we’re talking about! Frankly it speaks to either supreme incompetence or willful ignorance. This is why we are backing the vote of no confidence in the ruling coalition and its constituent parties. The people of Acadia deserve to make their voices heard in a snap election.”
The leader of the True Acadia party was far less diplomatic in his chastisement of his colleagues in the Forward Acadia caucus. “They’ve willingly sold us out to the Kerlians and, most likely, their Xiomeran allies. With Xiomera outright annexing Taragai, they probably think they have the upper hand! Probably because Belle and her cronies in the SDP have sold us out! Well the people of Acadia won’t stand for it! I won’t stand for it either! Those traitors should be barred from office for life and locked up like that foreign spy!”
The vote of no-confidence is scheduled for 3:00pm later today, and the current coalition of willing partners makes it all but guaranteed to pass. If it does, it is likely that snap elections will be scheduled for late next month. As for Christine Belle, it is unknown when she will get her day in court.
