The Associjacōn dei Film ut Kēnofilm Eiriani (Eirian Television and Movie Association) Awards Ceremony concluded last night, to the enjoyment of thousands of viewers across Eiria. Eiria’s largest film award ceremony was filled with the same theatrical and cultural flair that viewers have come to expect from the AFKE awards, with performances and speeches by some of Eiria’s finest talent.
Two extremely popular films, the historical action “Corinne” and the comedic tragedy “Faded”, tied for the most AFKE Awards credited to the movies, each movie earning three awards directly and one award for a person associated with the movies. “Corinne” earned the Best Costume Design, Best Makeup, and Best Scene Composition and Editing awards in the “Major Films” category, while Faded took the same category’s awards for Best Original Music, Best Cinematography, and Best Visual Effects. In addition, the Best Actor/Actress award went to Alis Kravale for her titular role as Corinne Boisclair, while Emily Lewis won the AFKE award for Best Directing.
However, despite “Corinne” and “Faded” having been the two highest earning movies in Eiria this last movie season, they both failed to win the coveted “Best Picture” award. That award instead went to “The Three of Diamonds: A Coward’s Crown”, a subversive heist action movie that was the fourth highest grossing movie this year. While “The Three of Diamonds: A Coward’s Crown” missed out on some of the big technical awards this year, besides the “Best Picture” award, it also earned the “Best Original Plot” award, and was nominated for more technical awards than any other movie this year.
Regardless of the heated debate the AFKE awards are always surrounded by, the awards carry an enormous amount of honor and prestige. Jean-Pierre Prevot, the director of the new “The Three of Diamonds” franchise, expressed his appreciation to the selection committee as well as his cast and crew after his movie’s victory was announced. “I am truly amazed. Thank you all, everyone, especially those of you who have dedicated so much time and effort to our movie. I’d also like to thank the honorable selection committee. This is an award that I’d never thought I’d be given the honor of receiving.”
Congratulations to the nominees and winners.
