Doinamese Military Launches General Offensive North

Ben Bo Bien, Doi Nam – Ongoing airstrikes in northern Doi Nam have heralded the previously announced offensive into the heavily forested northern regions of the country. Here, the DLA – or Doinamese Liberation Army – have consolidated their territory and turned it into a stronghold. Aiming to defeat the DLA before they can launch further assaults southward, the Doinamese Army, under orders of President Vuong, have launched a full-scale invasion of DLA territory.

Early on, the Army has been making rapid gains, as DLA forces lack the equipment to properly challenge the heavier vehicles like tanks and IFVs. Numerous villages have been taken by government forces, many of which remain heavily damaged by this morning’s air strikes. Further villages are apparently under siege, particularly those built in areas which heavy armor cannot adequately reach. The Doinamese Army has brought in artillery to attempt to destroy these settlement to avoid brutal house-to-house fighting.

Regardless, fighting remains fierce in the northern regions. Many more lightly armored formations of the Doinamese Army have come under repeated assault by the DLA. Official government reports have announced that only light casualties have been taken during the offensive so far, and significant losses have been inflicted on the DLA opposition. General Phuoc has stated that the Army expects the removal of the DLA as a united armed force by the end of the week.

The DLA meanwhile, has downplayed the casualties reported by the Doinamese government. Instead they have stated that it has inflicted significant casualties on government forces, reportedly taking out a few tanks with RPGs and improvised explosives. These reports, as of now, remain unconfirmed.
