Opening another front in the cold war between Xiomera and Huenya, the President of Huenya has called for Xiomera to be banned from all international events.
“The regime of Empress Calhualyana and the XCP have transformed Xiomera into an expansionist, swaggering bully on the world stage. They have forced territorial concessions from Salad Land, and have occupied part of Roucourt under the guise of ‘peacekeeping’. They tried to overthrow the government of Auria and install a puppet regime. They have repeatedly violated the Jinyu Agreement and attacked Huenya multiple times, both directly and through proxies,” President Xiadani said at a press conference. “They have also committed multiple assaults on foreign soil. They kidnapped people from Lauchenoiria and tortured them. They assassinated a Xiomeran dissident on Eirian soil. They operated, and continue to operate, ‘police stations’ to spy on and intimidate Xiomerans living abroad.”
“Those acts against the international community alone are more than enough reason to refuse to grant the Xiomeran Empire any legitimacy on the world stage. But the depravity of the XCP regime abroad is only matched by their depravity against their own people. They imprison, torture and kill dissidents without hesitation. They have transformed a nation that was once on the path to democracy into a dystopian fascist nightmare, where you either obey the Empress and the XCP without question or hesitation, or suffer the price.” President Xiadani asked “How can the world stand by and still allow the Xiomeran regime to stand with free and humane nations at events meant to demonstrate goodwill and international cooperation?”
The President presented a resolution to the Huenyan Federal Legislature, which passed unanimously in the Chamber of Executives and by a margin of 305 to 15 in the Chamber of Deputies. The resolution calls for “all international events within the IDU to ban Xiomeran participation until Xiomera withdraws from Huenya, Roucourt, and Salad Land”. It also calls for a full ban on Xiomera until “the Xiomeran government agrees to fully adhere to the Jinyu Agreement.” The resolution also calls on international events to ban Xiomera until the Xiomeran government “ceases the rule of the tyrant Calhualyana and the XCP, ceases the repression of dissidents, and allows free speech and free political participation in Xiomera.”
The Huenyan government is expected to begin sending the resolution to organizers of sporting and cultural events in the IDU within the next week. Sporting events to be targeted include the IDU Olympics, IDU Baseball Classic, and the IDU Football Championship. The Huenyan government is also expected to ask organizers of cultural events such as the IDU Cheese Festival and the IDU Film Festival to bar Xiomera from participation.
The reaction of the Xiomeran government to the Huenyan resolution was quick and furious. “The Huenyan government and their president are being utterly ridiculous as usual. Instead of figuring out how to competently run a country, or how not to be a puppet of foreign powers, they lash out at us from jealousy and envy as inferior states often do,” Prime Minister Toquihu told Xiomeran state media. “Rather than actually become good, or even competitive, at international events, the Huenyan state wants to exclude Xiomera because they cannot compete with us in any way whatsoever. It is a sad and shameful spectacle, even for the clowns’ circus that is the Huenyan government and the Xiadani administration.”
When Empress Calhualyana was asked by Xiomeran state media for her own reaction, she had a single word: “Pathetic.”
