Milintican and Xiomeran officials have both confirmed that a Xiomeran drone has been shot down by Milintican air defense forces.
The incident occurred around 7:45am Milintican time on October 27th, when a Xiomeran CC-U-46 “Tōn’catl” UAV was spotted by Milintican forces near Kerehoma Naval Station. Kerehoma is Milintica’s second largest naval facility, and Milintican officials accused Xiomera of spying on the facility. “Xiomeran forces, operating out of their illegal base on Aoatea, sent this drone to observe our naval operations. The drone entered Milintican air space and was justifiably shot down,” President Neina Arana said in a press conference. She warned Xiomera not to send further drones near Milintican facilities “or we will continue to eliminate them.” Milintican officials said that the drone was shot down with a surface-to-air missile.
Xiomeran officials denied that the drone had entered Milintican airspace, and defended their observations of Milintican military facilities. “The new administration of Neina Arana has been threatening the Chenalco Islands and our people there. We thus have every right to monitor the newly emerging, belligerent communist regime there,” Prime Minister Toquihu of Xiomera told the media. “Our drone was still within international airspace at the time of the shootdown. The Milinticans had no right or reason to shoot it down.” Despite Arana’s warning, the Prime Minister said that Xiomera “will continue to monitor Milintica”. He also said that “further hostile actions by Milintican forces will warrant a further response from us.”
In a show of force, the Xiomeran Air Force has sent five Pācue stealth bombers on an overflight of the Milintican capital Huānoch today. The Pācue bomber “is highly unlikely to be at any risk from Milintican air defenses,” Felix Fox, a military affairs analyst with DTNS, said. “The overflight was clearly meant to be a warning to Neina Arana’s government. Whether or not they will take that warning is definitely open to question, however.”
