Civil war is burgeoning in Zargothrax, the latest conflagration in the so-called plague of civil wars. This is an update on the situation in the Thraxian peninsua.
The capital city of Castle Zargo, and surrounding land to the north-west is presently held by former Chief Advisor Jared Hashemi, now styling himself Regent. Forces loyal to Hashemi also hold land in the south-west; a portion in the central east of the country, and the bulk of the eastern side of the island of Sharquaksia. Hashemi claims that neither Shapur nor Navid are legitimate; the former because the latter is alive, and the latter because he is legally dead.
Meanwhile, King Shapur holds the bulk of the interior and south-east of the country, as well as a small enclave of Sharquaksia. He is leading his forces from his ancestral home of Szarghomet, where the House of Zargo resided prior to the unification of Thraxia in 1738. The ancient city is now mostly comprised of ruins; with Shapur’s forces camping out in tents among the remnants of the city. A secondary command post of the Shapurian forces is the so-called “Camp Demon”, named by Prince Jahangir who was on a mission to “expel demons” from that area when the conflict broke out. The sons of King Shapur appear to have all taken his side in the conflict, while his daughters have not.
The apparently miraculously revived King Navid, aided by Princess Mina, has taken up residence in the city of Alwadha on the island of Khasira, with forces loyal to him on both the Thraxian mainland and west of Sharquaksia. Navid is the father of King Shapur, and the previous ruler of Zargothrax. He allegedly died in 2020, and is now claiming to have been kept hostage by Chief Advisor Hashemi, who faked his death.
Samara Island, whose feline ruler seemingly declared independence last year, has been left untouched by the conflict, with all three parties appearing to respect the island’s strange independence – much to everyone’s surprise. It remains to be seen if this will hold.
Princess Leila is still missing, location unknown. She has not emerged to choose a side in this conflict.
