In what election observers had viewed almost as a foregone conclusion, incumbent President Xiadani and her Unification Party stormed to a dominating victory in Huenya’s national elections. The President earned re-election with 58% of the vote. Given the presence of twenty-one opposing candidates, her margin of victory is already being touted as a mandate by the Unificationists.

The dominant day for the Unification Party continued in the Federal Legislature, where the Chamber of Deputies is now a veritable ocean of Unification Blue.
This election gives the Unificationists control of the Tecpancalli Tonalzintli for a second term, as well as an outright majority in the Chamber of Deputies with a gain of almost fifty seats. With the majority of tlatoani in the Chamber of Executives favoring the Unification Party as well, the party will have almost total control of the Huenyan government for the next three years.
The wins for the UP kept coming as the night rolled on, with Unificationists winning all four governorships in the four Huenyan states. Fourteen of the twenty counties within the states also went to UP leaders, as well as a huge swath of the municipal elections.
The mood at One Unification Center was understandably jubilant and excited as President Xiadani took the stage to declare victory. “Just as the Huenyan flag is blue, the Huenyan nation is blue – Unification Party blue,” the President declared to raucous cheers from the crowd. “We led the fight for our independence, and we will now lead the path forward as we mature into a strong independent nation and a power in the world. Let there be no doubt after tonight that the Unification Party represents the will of the Huenyan people. Tonight’s vote gives no clearer possible evidence of that fact.”
Despite the dominant win and majority control her party now enjoys, the President pledged to work with the other parties in governing Huenya. “We are not the Empire with their fake XCP. We are not Neina Arana’s Milintica. We are a multi-party democracy, and we will respect the will and consider the opinions of all Huenyans fairly and equally as we move this nation forward together.”
The President pledged to continue strengthening Huenya’s economy and infrastructure as the nation continues to rebuild and grow after the independence fight and years of insurgency. She also promised to continue to work closely with Huenya’s foreign allies. “One of the surest measures of a nation’s true strength and progress is the number of friends that it has. Huenya has been helped along its difficult road by many nations, and by strong alliances such as the UCS. We will continue to reach out and partner with other democracies around the world, in mutually beneficial cooperation together and in the cause of furthering democracy and freedom worldwide.”
The President further addressed foreign policy by making it clear that her government has no intention of letting up pressure on its former colonial ruler, the Xiomeran Empire. “The Empire likes to boast about how it’s been around for 600 years. Well, as all good things must come to an end, so must all bad ones. And I say this very directly to Empress Calhualyana, to Prime Minister Toquihu, to all of their lackeys and minions, to every single person in the Imperial apparatus and the XCP who is complicit in their evil – start counting your days,” Xiadani declared to even louder cheers. “You tried to destroy this nation. You failed. Every day that Huenya exists is a day that we grow stronger. This election is proof that Huenya is here to stay. And one day, the nation you tried to kill will stand on your own grave and help the rest of the world bury the evil and repressive Empire forever.”
For their part, Xiadani’s opponents were mostly muted in their acceptance of the election outcome. Eileen Finch, who came closest to derailing the Xiadani juggernaut, praised her campaign and her supporters. “Today wasn’t the outcome we wanted. But the results show we are the sane, sensible alternative to the increasingly right-wing and belligerent direction of the Unification Party,” Finch said in brief remarks at her campaign watch party. “Many Huenyans still believe in our message. We will leverage that going forward and we will remain the vocal opposition that keeps the worst excesses of the Unification Party in check, even as madam Xiadani might want to steer us off a cliff. And one day, when Huenyans see that the Unification Party is actually bad for this country, it will be our time to lead.”
