Caxcanan Assembly Elected, Policy Council Nominated

The Palace of Sands (Lei Pale dei Sabesei) in New Riga, the historical site of the Parliament of the Duchy of the Northern Coast, has been restored to house the Caxcanan Assembly.

The new legislative and executive arms of the Union of Caxcanan States are now up and running.

After a few weeks of negotiation within the newly-elected Caxcanan Assembly, party groups have been formed and Caxcanan ministers have been selected. The 300 member assembly divided itself into five major party groups, with a significant number of assembly members remaining unaffiliated (as “non-inscrits”).

Here is the breakdown of the party groups and their largest contributing parties:

-United Left (United Aurian Commune, Eirian Socialists and Progressives, Huenyan Democratic Socialists): 43

-Social Democrats (Eirian Moderate Left, Aurian Social Democrats): 49

-For a Green Caxcana (Eirian Greens, Huenyan Greens, Aurian Greens, Forward Manabí Party): 43

-Liberal Coalition of the Center: 94 (Huenyan Unification Party, Aurian Reason, Eirian Centrists and ModRights)

-Party of Caxcanan Nationalists (Eirian Formido Party, Manabí Party for Development, Growth and Fairness, Aurian National Truth): 33

-Non-Inscrits (Various): 38

After the Assembly was first seated on Monday, the executives of all four UCS nations, in conjunction with CA party leaders, announced their nominees for the Caxcanan Policy Council. Twelve Ministers (including the First Minister) were selected to lead the alliance’s new executive arm, four from each member state.

Dr. Lilija Lang, dean of Vaun University’s Public Policy program and former deputy chairwoman of the Geminus Green Party, was nominated to direct the Union’s policy initiatives as First Minister. Lang is an accomplished academic and scholar of comparative policy, having served within the Lancaster and Stendē administrations as a policy advisor.

The other minister nominees and their portfolios are as follows:

-Minister of External Affairs: Achcauhitli (Huenya)

-Minister of Justice: Quetzallan (Huenya)

-Minister of Finance: Sara Čakša (Eiria)

-Minister for Trade: Kristof Vernij (Auria)

-Minister for Defence and Security: Rihards Masson (Eiria)

-Minister of the Environment: Tecumbalam (Manabí Rive)

-Minister of Agriculture and Natural Resources: Anton Eknere (Auria)

-Minister of Tourism: Zipacna (Manabí Rive)

-Minister of Education: Jakob Eljas (Auria)

-Minister of Research: Kianto (Manabí Rive)

-Minister for Infrastructure: Yoliyamanihual (Huenya)

Given that these nominations were the product of extensive negotiations, the candidates are expected to pass the Assembly without much trouble. The exact policy plans of this slate of ministers are still uncertain, but regardless, this is the start of a new era in Caxcanan history.
