Huenyan president, spouse adopt child

President Xiadani of the Huenyan Federation and her spouse Tecamali have adopted a son, the government announced at today’s daily official press conference.

The First Couple have adopted a seven-year-old boy named Amictlán, from the city of Ixtenco. The child was orphaned during the Second Xiomeran Civil War, and had been residing in a government child care facility for war orphans since the end of the conflict. Press Secretary Patlee said that the First Couple had been planning to start a family for over a year. They decided to adopt after a government report in October 2025 revealed that over 1800 children orphaned by the war are residing in either government centers or non-profit private centers in Huenya hoping for adoption by new families.

“While this government does encourage increased childbirth to help repopulate Huenya, we can’t forget there are so many children that the war impacted who also deserve loving families,” Patlee said. “The President and her wife bonded very strongly with Amictlán over two months, and they know that kind of bond could happen for all of these kids if someone just gives them a chance at the home they deserve.”

The announcement of the adoption has won praise from child advocates, who hope that its high-profile nature will encourage Huenyans and people from other countries alike to consider adopting a child like Amictlán. Advocates for ethnic reconciliation and greater unity in Huenya also have praised the First Couple for adopting a Xiomeran child. “Both the President and her wife are Necatli, and the relations between Necatli and Xiomerans in Huenya are the most fraught and difficult of all Huenya’s social and cultural fault lines,” Erendira with the National Unity Coalition told DTNS. “This adoption is a huge win for the idea that all Huenyans can put the past aside, and live together in peace and love.”
