In what is expected to be a signature event of her incoming administration, President-Elect Neina Arana of Milintica announced that the country will host a “Red Wave Conference” on November 1st, 2024.
“For far too long, the ties of solidarity and common cause between socialist nations and movements around the world have been allowed to wither and grow dormant. This is one of the reasons that socialist movements have been receding in recent years,” Arana told a gathering of Milintican Communist Party activists today. “Milintica used to be a leader in the red cause around the world, but the outgoing government we are replacing, and not soon enough quite frankly, neglected and abandoned our historic and sacred role as the carrier of the socialist banner. I don’t intend to allow that to continue. We will begin hosting annual gatherings of fellow socialist nations and movements from around the world in Huānoch, so that we can work together to advance the socialist cause around the world.”
MCP officials said that the name “Red Wave Conference” was chosen to symbolize the MCP’s ambitions to spark a resurgence in socialist movements around the world, as well as being a nod to Milintica’s historic role as a leader in the worldwide socialist cause. The MCP plans to extend invitations to top officials from Nahrava, as well as the People’s Republic of Taragai government currently led by Chaghagan Khoga. The MCP has also tentatively planned to extend invitations to socialist leaders in other countries such as Javier Flynn in Lauchenoiria and Zyaticue in Huenya.
Incoming government refuses to release election observers, gives deadline to leave country
In another announcement from the incoming Milintican administration, the Ministry of Justice has declined to intervene in the issue of two Huenyan diplomatic staffers currently being detained by police in northern Milintica.
“We will not bow to pressure from outside sources to alter the course of our justice system,” incoming Minister of Justice Coszcayah told DTNS. “The two individuals being held in Aropaonui will be treated the same as any other criminal defendant without special privileges being invoked.” The incoming Minister said that the national government in Huānoch will not order the release of the two Huenyan staffers by Aropaonui authorities. He also declined to confirm or deny whether or not the incoming government would follow through with previously stated threats to try the two Huenyans on espionage charges.
The incoming Minister also stated that the new government “has confirmed that there is no further need for foreign election observers to be in the country”, and that “we are recommending that all such observers leave Milintica by October 5th, 2024.” Minister Coszcayah would not confirm or deny if election observers who didn’t accept the “recommendation” to leave the country by that date would face expulsion or investigation by the Milintican government.
When asked about the issue of their detained staffers, the Huenyan government did not mince words or delay their response. “That is the wrong answer to our request for their release. It is, in fact, the most wrong of all possible wrong answers that Neina Arana and her minions could have given us,” President Xiadani told Huenyan media. The President is reportedly meeting with top Huenyan security officials, including Defense Secretary Tlanexchel, FIS director Cuetlancaona, and High General Texōccoatl, to consider Huenya’s response.
